COURSE CONTENTS

 

HORSE ANATOMY (1st Semester)
The aim of the course is to give basic anatomic terminology, introduce all the body parts of horses and
teach the correct usage and maintaining of horses as well as correctly analysing the performance, health
issues and abilities of horses.


HORSE PHYSIOLOGY (1st Semester)
The aim of the course is to introduce the organs and systems of horses to students. It is aimed students
could relate their knowledge of physiology with all the vital activities of horses.


INTRODUCTION TO HORSE BREEDING AND HISTORY (1st Semester)
The aim of the course is to give information about the development phases of horses and horse breeding
and their effects on societies. It is aimed students have knowledge about horse breeding and create a
vision for today and the future.


HORSE EQUIPMENT (1st Semester)
The aim of the course is to introduce and teach how to use all the gear and equipment according to the
usage areas. It is aimed students will comprehend the qualities, costs, selection of gear as well as their
place and importance in the running costs and the safety of horse and rider.


HORSE CARE and BARN MAINTENANCE I (1st Semester)
The aim of the course is to teach the basic principles of the maintenance of horses and barns theoretically
and practically as a beginner level. It is aimed students will suit into the field with this knowledge.

 

EQUESTRIAN I (1st Semester)
The aim of the course is have the students feel and understand horses and understand the importance of
the harmony between rider and horse on the performance of the horse. It is aimed to create a basic
groundwork for the next level by teaching basic equestrian concepts.


HORSE BEHAVIOUR (1st Semester)
The aim of the course is to give the basic knowledge about horse natural behaviour and stereotypic behaviours.

Understand how ethological training affects the management, training, work and race performance of horses. It

is aimed students develop the ability to understanding the body language of horses and to use learning theory for

horse training.

HORSE RIDING PRACTICES in the WORLD (1st Semester)
The aim of the course is to give students a vision about the development phases, types of practising and
the rules of horse breeding in the world. It is aimed to realize various horse breeding activities practised in
the world by examining the applicability of these, and to nurture the staff who could plan this variety.


BASIC HORSE TRAINING (1st Semester)
The aim of the course is to give basic and common knowledge at the beginner level to the students who are
going to be a trainer. It is aimed students could develop their communication skills with horses initially,
and then they understand that the training is long and demanding; the causes of the obligation why this
process has to be carried out by experts.


USE OF BASIC INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (1st Semester)

The aim of the course is to give students knowledge about information technologies they are using or
going to use in their education and working life and get them to use the technologies effectively. It is
aimed to introduce basic information technologies, and teach hardware and software, laws and
information and communication methods.


PRINCIPLES OF ATATURK AND HISTORY OF REVOLUTION (1st Semester)
The aim of the course is to have students adopt the Principles of Ataturk which consists the basis of the
country by teaching them how the Republic of Turkey was founded, and to tell them the efforts of Ataturk
on the way to create an international peace; his concept of nationalism that rejects racism; his
revolutionary self and leadership as well as his military bases.


TURKISH LANGUAGE I (1st Semester)
The aim of the course is to have students figure out the correct use of Turkish and basic correspondence
techniques needed particularly in bureaucracy. It is aimed students get the ability of applying the correct
official correspondence techniques in their professional life.


FOREIGN LANGUAGE (ENGLISH) (1st Semester)
The aim of the course is to give students ability to communicate with the people not knowing Turkish. It is
primarily aimed they have the desire and self confidence in communicating with foreigners.

 

HORSE BREEDS  (2nd Semester)


The aim of the course is to teach the evolutionary process and spread of horse breeds with selected
examples. It is aimed to teach the general aspects, history, classification and families of horse breeds.


HORSE NUTRUTION (2nd Semester)
The aim of the course is to specify the nutritional qualities of horses in accordance with their age, breed
and the work they do. It is aimed the students could specify the ration preparation for the horses, and create
a ration that will contribute the health of horses.


HORSE CARE and BARN MAINTENANCE II (2nd Semester)
The aim of the course is to teach working in different facilities, work sharing and the basic rules to be
applied, the basic care principles of horses according to their family, age, build and the type of job they do,
responsibilities, maintenance of equipment, arranging areas, daily routines, and learning horse care. It is
aimed to have students gain professional experience in horse care and barn maintenance.


BASIC HORSE TRAINING II (2nd Semester)
The aim of the course is to teach the pace, leniency, increasing the potential of horses, correct guidance,
preventing mistakes and removing them in horses. It is aimed the students could train and prepare horses
in accordance with the required field, and to teach them about the concepts of pace, leniency, reliance,
impulse, going forward, correct organizing.

 

BLACKSMITHING and USE OF HORSESHOE I (2nd Semester)
The aim of the course is to teach students the structure of foot and hoof and their practices; how to know
and use the equipment. It is aimed students gain knowledge about blacksmithing and use of horseshoe to
intervene the problems about the related field they will encounter in addition to trainer education.


EQUESTRIAN II (2nd Semester)
The aim of the course is developing rider awareness and controlling the horse without distracting its going
forward. It is aimed students, by learning the riding styles, create a basis for other fields and have the
necessary consciousness to train horses by learning how to control the horse.


STUDFARM and GRAZING (2nd Semester)
The aim of the course is to teach students the concepts and importance of stud farms and grasslands in the
field of horse breeding and care. It is aimed the students learn the kinds, importance of meadows, ranges
and uplands and knowledge of where and how to built them; increasing the efficiency in stud farming and
making the facilities work economically.

 

BASIC COMPUTER SCIENCES (2nd Semester)

The aim of the course is to introduce the computer and its hardware; teach how it runs and how to use
basic programs theoretically and practically. It is aimed students organize activities by using information
technologies and meet the needs in the fields such as communication, efficiency and tracking incomes and
expenses.

ECONOMICS of EQUINE BUSINESS (3rd Semester)
The aim of the course is to give students knowledge about entrepreneurship in horse breeding; the phases
of setting up a business; the general running of businesses, and to use this knowledge in horse breeding. It
is aimed to teach business administration and economics considering the horse breeding.


BLACKSMITHING and USE OF HORSESHOE I (3rd Semester)
The aim of the course is to give students the ability of choosing the suitable horseshoe for the horses
having hoof problems, preventive measures and being able to apply this knowledge to solve the problems.
It is aimed the students will be able to solve hoof problems that they may face often in their professional
life, and have an idea about making and applying horseshoes.


HORSE RACE TRACKS AND MANAGEMENT (3rd Semester)
The aim of the course is to teach students the race tracks and kinds of them in the country, to direct their
business to correct way in the field by knowing the law and legislation about horse racing.


HORSE CARE and STUDFARM MAINTENANCE III (3rd Semester)
The aim of the course in this level is giving students the necessary knowledge about controlling horses,
separating healthy ones from unhealthy horses and practising the necessary pre-treatment methods in
case of an emergency till the vet comes. It is aimed students have the knowledge about physical and
behavioural control of horses, identifying problems, preventive measures, contraceptive methods from
parasitic infections, basic first aid and dressing.

 

EQUESTRIAN III (3rd Semester)
The aims of the course in this level is giving students the necessary knowledge about understanding the
essential gear for horses and riders, and raise them to the level where they will be able to run their horse
at full gallop.


HORSE MICROBIOLOGY (3rd Semester)
The aim of the course is giving students the essential knowledge about microbial living forms, the
development conditions of microbial breeding and controlling it. It is aimed students will be able to apply
the techniques for taking microbiologic samples, making culture, applying sterilization, and producing
microorganisms and examining them.


HORSE TRAINING I (3rd Semester)

The aim of the course is to teach students the basic principles about identifying and preparing the right
training program for the horses by considering the physiological change, age and gender factors. It is aimed
students could prevent the potential problems by training the horse in accordance with the prepared
program as well as having the ability to cope with the problems on their own.


PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT and BEHAVIOUR (3rd Semester)
The aim of the course is to enable students to make them clearly understood in their professional life by
assessing themselves and their environment correctly. It is aimed students will reach the level where they
can adapt to working life easily and trusting their ability.

 

LEGISLATION OF HORSE RACING AND BREEDING (4th Semester)
The aim of the course is giving students essential knowledge about the authorities and law, codes and
legislations of horse racing in the country. It is aimed students will be able to direct horse owners and their
staff in accordance with the legislations.


GENERAL ACCOUNTING (4th Semester)
The aim of the course is teaching students the basic costing, budget and financial administration of
business principles. It is aimed students will be able to track the incomes and expenses, and creating the
future financial plan of the enterprise they work in.


HORSE BUSINESS LAW (4th Semester)
The aim of the course is minimising the legal risks that may arise in the sector by introducing legislations
and legal processes in the business; teaching students their position and status in the sector, organization,
and in the presence of the horse. It is aimed to teach students that they have to serve in compliance with
the working conditions of horse breeding business identified by the law.

 

HORSE CARE AND STUDFARM MAINTENANCE (4th Semester)

The aim of the course at this level is teaching students how to feed horses, the general running principles

of a foundation, preparing emergency plans and being have to practise all of these in accordance with the
organization. It is aimed students will have the ability to assess all the processes they deal with in a
foundation.


EQUESTRIAN IV (4th Semester)
The aim of the course is giving students the necessary knowledge about making physical activities with
horses, and applying racing rules and refereeing services practically. It is aimed to give students the ability
of practising the necessary training by the rider in order to prepare horses, and measure and increase the
performance of them.


HORSE TRAINING II (4th Semester)
The aim of the course is to enable students use and apply their knowledge about strengthening the built of
horses, identifying the necessary physical fitness exercises and practising them with the horse, the changes
occurring in the respiratory and circulatory systems of the horse, applying the necessary things before and
after a race and making the most from the horse. It is aimed students will be able prepare the essential
program according to the job of the horse and apply this program.

FACILITY DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT (4th Semester)
The aim of the course is to meet the requirements of the sector in the fields of preparing and setting-up
layouts of horse breeding facilities, and giving the necessary knowledge to students in order for them to
plan efficiency and running costs most appropriately.
